Ark Housing is delighted to announce our sponsorship of Team Northern Ireland as they prepare to compete in the Homeless World Cup in Seoul next week. This prestigious tournament is more than just a football event; it is a powerful platform that transforms lives and reshapes societal attitudes towards homelessness.
The Homeless World Cup operates a global network, uniting nearly 70 grassroots organizations that use football to address homelessness and social isolation. Among these organizations is Street Soccer NI, a remarkable charity dedicated to supporting disadvantaged groups, including people experiencing homelessness, individuals with addictions, mental health issues, ex-prisoners, refugees, asylum seekers, and the long-term unemployed.
Street Soccer NI has been a beacon of hope and change since 2013, when they developed the first men’s homeless Northern Ireland team and participated in the Homeless World Cup in Poznan, Poland. Over the years, they have taken over 80 individuals experiencing homelessness to represent Northern Ireland on an international stage, competing in eight Homeless World Cups in countries such as Chile, Mexico, Norway, and the USA.
Ark Housing is committed to partnering with various organizations to build strong communities and provide opportunities for our tenants and residents. Our Homeless Services team recently received funding from the Barclay’s Football Fund to provide training and accessibility to football matches for children living in our hostels for families experiencing homelessness. Combined with our sponsorship of the Homeless World Cup, this demonstrates our commitment to community development and positive change through sport.
This year, Team Northern Ireland is set to make their mark in Seoul, and Ark Housing is incredibly proud to support this inspiring initiative. We believe in the power of football to bring about positive change and are committed to helping Street Soccer NI continue their vital work.
We extend our heartfelt best wishes to Team Northern Ireland. May they play with passion, pride, and the spirit of unity that defines the Homeless World Cup. Good luck, and give it your heart and Seoul!
